Dear Lazz,

As I get older, I notice that my skin is getting very dry.  Besides moisturizing, are there other things that I can do to prevent this dryness?   Louise in Pompano

Louise, it’s a very natural reaction for the skin to change as we get older.  My suggestion for you would be to change your moisturizer to meet your new needs.  If your skin does not improve, I would suggest going to see your doctor and have your hormones checked as well as having him recommend a moisturizer specifically for you.

Dear Lazz,

Because of my thyroid problem, I have lost my eyebrows.  Should I just keep using an eyebrow pencil……what is your advice on tattooing them on?   Helena in Miami

Helena, remember that tattooing is a permanent solution.  I suggest that you search for a tattoo make-up artist that specializes in tattooing eyebrows.  Make sure that you are able to see their work on someone before you decide to get it done on yourself.  If it is done well, it could be a great solution for you.

Dear Lazz,

Can you tell me, once and for all, the correct way to apply mascara?  And should I put it on my lower lashes as well?   Carmen in Lake Worth

Carmen, the best way to apply mascara is to give the top of your lashes a coat to dust off the powder from the eye shadow that you most likely just applied.  Do your upper lashes first and then finish with the bottom ones.

Dear Lazz,

I have very sensitive skin.  When I have something waxed, I get a terrible rash.  Is there a way to stop this from occurring?   Chafed in Coconut Creek

Dear Chafed, if you are getting a rash from waxing, it could be one of two things.  One is the wax may be too hot and is burning you.  The other is you have developed an allergy to the wax you are using.  I suggest that the next time you go for a waxing, take an aspirin and see if that helps.  If that doesn’t help, I suggest that you consider speaking with your dermatologist and look for another alternative to this problem.

Dear Lazz,

My girlfriend told me that I put my make-up on in the wrong order.  Is there a special order that one should use to apply make-up?   Bella in Hialeah

The first thing you do, Bella, in applying make-up is start out with a clean and well moisturized face.  Next, you put on your base or foundation, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush and lipstick.  Some people use a slightly different order, but as long as you start out clean and moisturized, you will be ok
