You should make an appointment to tour any type of alternative housing especially an Assisted Living Community or an Alzheimer’s Dementia / Memory Care Unit in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County.


Having been an Administrator of very large communities, I have witnessed, firsthand, what can happen when people just “Show up” for a tour of an ALF, Assisted Living Community or a Locked Special Care Unit.

You may come upon a scenario that is unpleasant or unnerving. Things happen in communities with an elderly population, and the community should not be judged by an isolated incident, but by how it is handled by the staff.


Another important reason you should make an appointment to tour an Assisted Living Facility or an Alzheimer’s Dementia Special Care units, is the fact that you want to tour the Assisted Living community with the Sales or Marketing Representative, not a receptionist or office worker as a fill in.
