Finding the correct senior housing in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach counties is getting more difficult as we speak, due to higher costs for our Senior Citizens and Residents of Southeast Florida. Senior Housing and Long-Term Care Facilities such as Independent Living, Assisted Living, Nursing Homes, Memory Care, and Alzheimer’s Dementia Secured Facilities, are harder to find… the GOOD ONES!

There are many reasons why a person has the need to move into a Long-Term Senior Community.

Going back to our initial statement, the truth is that the average age of a resident in an Assisted Living Facility is a little over 83, and usually someone in need of at least one or more Activities of Daily Living.

Some of the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are showering, dressing, toileting, eating and medication management.

The staff at the Assisted Living Facility is trained to provide assistance with all of those ADLs.

We should mention here that the need for some type of lifestyle change is usually first indicated when a person has difficulty in one or more of the following areas:

· Difficulty in self-care, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, or eating.

· Decline in physical or mental health.

· Family not available to provide care or supervision.

As a result of new regulations and changes in the Health Care Industry, residents are now provided with more services in an Assisted Living Facility, to include, but are not limited to housekeeping and laundry services, transportation to doctors, social activities and 24-hour supervision.

Placement Counselors Corp networks with several local and national organizations such as: Area Agency on Aging of Broward County, Elder Affairs and ADRC (Aging and Disability Resource Center), Adult Protective Services, and many others. PCC provides information and assistance about state and federal benefits, as well as available local programs and services to most hospitals in Florida, as part of our ongoing networking.
