In the state for Florida, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Assisted Living Facility is the person responsible for his/her staff operating the facility.

This is mostly for all Long-Term Care Facilities such as: Senior Housing Group Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Special Care Units, Alzheimer’s Dementia Secured Units, Skilled Nursing Facilities or Nursing Homes.

All Department Heads of the facility report to the Administrator, who is the person responsible to coordinate all the departments. In this way, a facility can be operated successfully.

If you plan to tour a facility, you should ask the following questions:

  • How long has the Administrator been working at your facility?

  • Is your Administrator the owner of the facility?

  • Is your Administrator licensed?

  • Do you have an Assistant Administrator?

  • Do you have Department Heads?

  • Do you have a Director of Nursing?

  • How long has your Director of Nursing been working at your facility?

  • Is the Director of Nursing available on the weekends?

  • Does the Director of Nursing have an assistant?

  • Is your Administrative Staff available on the weekends?

  • Who manages the facility on the weekends?

Having a Placement Counselor is the first step you should take so that you will ask the correct questions on your tour or phone call. PCC advocates for quality care and all the facilities we represent are licensed and certified with the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

You will be assigned to a counselor that knows your desired area. Give us a call and let one of our Counselors near you help you with your questions and concerns.
